Thank you, Si

Last week the staff and National Council of FOR got a very special treat. The legendary troubadour for justice Si Kahn hosted a fundraising house party at our national headquarters. Si went south to work for civil rights in the 60's and never looked back. In 1980, he founded Grassroots Leadership, a nonprofit which works to support progressive organizing in the South and he still writes and sings songs that move the movement.

GIve a little: the Facebook Causes Challenge

Donate $1 for peace, and FOR could get a lot!  Today the Case Foundation launched the Causes Giving Challenge which is awarding $500,000 to nonprofits that get the largest number of new donations between now and January 31st through a tool called "Causes" which allows Facebook users to create a network of supporters and donors on any issue they care about.

This challenge is counting the number, not the amount, of donations so you can really make a difference by mobilizing your friends and family to take a small action for peace. You can help FOR by joining and giving at least $1 to our cause: Peace and Justice Through Nonviolence.

Give the gift of peace by sustaining FOR

Today we celebrate international Human Rights Day in honor of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was signed on December 10th, 1948. With this shared vision acknowledging we are all members of the human family, FOR’s executive director Mark Johnson is currently leading a 10-member delegation in Iran.  This is the kind of grassroots peacemaking work that is made possible by your support of FOR.
