Ask Congress to work for peace in Zimbabwe

In addition to the request we posted earlier calling on African leaders to save Zimbabwe from Robert Mugabe, we also invite you to send an e-mail to your U.S. Senators urging congressional action for peace and the restoration of democracy.

Here is the letter we hope you will send:

I am writing to express my strong disapproval of what appears to be a policy of ongoing state-sponsored violence in Zimbabwe. As Americans, we are morally obligated to use our position of global authority to stop the chaos and restore calm so that democratic elections may proceed.

I urge you to sponsor and work for legislation that condemns post-election violence in Zimbabwe and calls for a peaceful resolution to the current political crisis, such as HR1230 which was recently passed in the House.

Now is the time for Americans to show the global community that we deserve their respect as a moral and just actor on the world stage. I thank you for your time and attention to this growing crisis.
